Metropolis!

The very name conjures up an image of bleak urban landscapes, tall gaunt buildings and superheros and heroines gliding through a dark sky to face and fight the forces of evil wherever they encounter them. It's a wonderful picture, but, alas, THAT Metropolis only exists in comic books. THIS Metropolis is a city renowned worldwide for its superb skyline, its awful weather and an extensive network of organized crime.

Fortunately, weapons weren't common in Metropolis. The criminals enforced their power through physical strength - they fought. The catfight was the way for people to gain and maintain power in Metropolis for the entire population of the city was made up of sexy women.

An "electromagnetic pulse" in 2005 had rendered the city and its suburbs uninhabitable to males and, as a result, women flocked to the area by the thousands; some seeking solace in the arms of their sisters, others fleeing the male dominated world outside, while some just wanted a fresh start in a world that was less judgmental about what it meant to be a woman.

Whatever their reasons for coming, women ruled Metropolis and the women had outlawed weapons - even law enforcement was prohibited from using them. There were only two ways to get and keep power in Metropolis; use your brain or your brawn.

There had been several organizations in Metropolis that vied for power amongst themselves but first and foremost among them were the scary 'Scorpion Sisterhood'! The Scorpion Sisters were now the leading organization and the controlled criminality and power in Metropolis. After fighting off the competition, they were the only organization left. Their power was unchallenged - or nearly so.

One group of girls still refused to accept the preeminence of Miss Scorpion, the absolute leader of the Sisterhood. The identity of Miss Scorpion was unknown and she never appeared in person to her sisters. Still, they obeyed her orders without question.

The other group didn't have a name, or if it did it wasn't known outside it's members. It's leader was the redoubtable Jennifer "J-Lo" Lopez and she had gathered about her some of the toughest and stoutest of the women in town who weren't interested in a life of crime or of taking advantage of the weaker members of society.

The stories that follow document the many battles in the war between the vile 'Scorpion Sisterhood' and the forces of right and light led by Jennifer Lopez. Sit back, relax, prop up your feet and open the beverage of your choice before you read on, dear and gentle reader. Our story begins on a dark and stormy night……
